Preschool
Jowonio's preschool classes serve students with a range of skills and needs. About one-third of the children receive special services. There is a low staff-to-child ratio. Staff members include teachers certified in special education and experienced in early childhood development, teacher assistants and interns from Syracuse University. Speech and language therapists, physical therapists and occupational therapists are also on staff. Please visit Enrollment Information to learn more about Jowonio's preschool options.
Early Intervention Services at Jowonio
Jowonio School also provides both inclusive center-based and itinerant (at home, day care or nursery school) early intervention services for a limited number of young students, birth to age three. Inclusive programming for two year olds is offered in conjunction with the Bernice Wright Nursery School. This program currently serves five toddlers and provides special education teacher and therapy services. In addition, a limited amount of special education teacher, speech/language, social work, occupational and physical therapy services are available for young children who qualify for such service in their home or community setting. For further information please refer to “Early Intervention: What’s It All About?”

Through ENRICH community-based services are delivered by Jowonio staff to children with special needs and their families. Special education teachers, occupational, physical and speech therapists, and social workers provide programming in homes and child care programs.
